In our clinic, we utilise the principles of Distal Acupuncture.
Distal acupuncture involves placing acupuncture needles far away from, or distal to, the area of the body being treated. For instance, if a patient experiences pain on the right side of their low back, we will not insert any needles in the back. Instead, we may place two to four needles in the left hand and another needle in the right foot. The treatments are quick, use a minimal number of needles, and—best of all—are often extraordinarily effective.
Advantages of Distal Point Acupuncture
Distal point acupuncture offers numerous benefits, including:
- Better treatment outcomes
- Rapid symptom resolution, often immediate
- Fewer needles
- Lower likelihood of aggravating the problem
- Patients can usually remain fully clothed
- Long-lasting results
This technique is also referred to as “Tan Style Acupuncture,” “Tung Style Acupuncture,” or “Balance Method Acupuncture,” in honour of the Masters who developed and expanded this ancient discipline.
