Acupuncture is a traditional healing practice involving the insertion of ultra-thin needles into specific points on the body. This ancient technique stimulates the body's natural healing processes, helping to regulate hormones, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and release pain-relieving endorphins.
Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points that communicate with your body's internal systems. The needles trigger biochemical responses that activate natural healing mechanisms, promote better circulation, reduce inflammation, and help restore balance throughout the body.
TCM is a comprehensive healing system that includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other therapies like cupping. Rather than just treating symptoms, TCM addresses the root causes of health issues while strengthening your body's natural defenses and ability to maintain optimal wellness.
Most people feel little to no discomfort during treatment. You might experience a brief, mild sensation when needles are inserted, but many patients find the experience so relaxing they fall asleep during sessions. The needles are extremely thin—much finer than medical needles—and removal is typically painless.
Acupuncture can address hundreds of health concerns, including chronic pain, headaches and migraines, anxiety and stress, digestive issues, sleep problems, fertility concerns, and women's health issues. It's also effective for preventive care and maintaining overall wellness.
When performed by licensed practitioners using sterile, single-use needles, acupuncture is very safe. Serious complications are extremely rare. All acupuncture needles are FDA-regulated medical devices that must meet strict safety and sterility standards.
Cupping uses gentle suction to increase blood flow and relax tight muscles. It feels like a reverse massage and can leave temporary circular marks that fade within a few days. Many patients find cupping deeply relaxing and effective for muscle tension and pain relief.

While both acupuncture and dry needling use needles, they differ significantly in training, approach, and application. Acupuncture is an ancient practice based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, viewing health through the lens of energy (qi) flow throughout the body's system. Our acupuncturists complete extensive degree-level training and take a comprehensive, holistic approach to treatment.

Dry needling is a relatively new technique focused solely on treating pain by stimulating trigger points in muscles. It's typically performed by physical therapists with minimal training—sometimes as little as 40 hours. Our acupuncturists have trained for years to understand how to safely and effectively treat patients using traditional acupuncture methods.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to arms and legs. We provide gowns when needed, and treatment rooms are private and comfortable for your modesty and relaxation.
Your first visit includes a comprehensive consultation where we discuss your health concerns, medical history, and treatment goals. We may examine your pulse and tongue as part of our traditional assessment. The actual treatment involves gentle needle insertion at specific points, followed by 20-30 minutes of relaxation.
Many people experience deep relaxation and a sense of calm after acupuncture. You might notice reduced pain, better sleep, or improved energy levels. Some people feel energized while others feel peacefully tired. These responses are normal and indicate your body is responding to treatment.
Treatment frequency depends on your specific condition and health goals. For acute issues, we often recommend weekly sessions initially, then spacing treatments further apart as symptoms improve. Maintenance treatments are typically monthly to support ongoing wellness.
The number of sessions varies based on your condition's severity, duration, and your body's response to treatment. Some people notice improvements after just a few sessions, while chronic conditions may require ongoing care. We'll develop a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.
Yes, acupuncture is safe and beneficial during pregnancy when performed by qualified practitioners. It can help with morning sickness, back pain, anxiety, and preparation for labor. We'll adjust treatment points and techniques specifically for pregnancy safety.

Light activities like walking or gentle yoga are fine after treatment. However, avoid intense exercise for a few hours post-treatment to allow your body to fully integrate the therapeutic effects of the session.
